Augie the Ring Bearer, Part Deux
Yesterday afternoon, the Steinke clan packed up the SUV and headed to Indiana for a long-night of fun. Gretchen's cousin Brody was getting married. In 2011, Augie was a ring bearer in another wedding (for Brody's sister Karah), and he did such a good job, he landed another gig.
Once again he was cast alongside flower girl extraordinaire Makayla, the bride's daughter.
Also starring alongside Augie was the groom. He was looking pretty dapper. He must have asked Augie for wardrobe advice.
After the pre-wedding pictures, Augie hit the dance floor to practice his moves.
And chilled in the candy room with some fruit snacks.
We were told we weren't supposed to touch the candy before the reception started. Of course, we would never sneak candy, but I saw others doing it. (I took down names!)
Augie tried to stop the candy thieves, but there's only so much a busy man like him can do.
There were a few moments during the night when we were all together. Here is one of them. Gracie was eating and crying a lot (it turns out she's only 2 weeks old), so mom was hanging out upstairs quite a bit in the bridal suite trying to keep her happy.
The wedding was downstairs. The ceremony was so quick, I didn't even get a picture of the bridal party. They were gone by the time I got my camera out.
Being a ring bearer is pretty tiring work. Augie needed a big cocktail (lemonade mixed with frozen water) before the reception.
Aunt Lauren tried to get some of his drink, but he was able to fend her off.
After cocktail hour, everyone headed upstairs for salads and sitting around. Mom was able to coax a kiss from the man of the hour.
Baby Gracie was dressed like a princess. When she wasn't crying, we were able to take her around to see some relatives.
Like Aunt Marcie.
And Grandma and Grandpa.
The reception was taking forever, so Augie picked up the camera and started taking pictures.
But mom thought he might drop it ...
... so I took it back.
After dinner, Augie hit the photo booth that was set up inside the candy room. I think he was afraid someone was going to snatch that Iron Man mask off his face.
Dinner was served, and then it was on to the best part of the night (if you ask Augie anyway), the dancing.
Augie danced with some of the ladies ...
... but mostly he just wanted to run circle around everyone on the dance floor. What can I say, I guess he just doesn't want some woman slowing him down.
