While Mom Is Away, Dad and the Kids Will Play ... Day 1

For those of you who don't know, I'm on vacation this week. That's because Gretchen has to be away at a teacher's conference for a few days. Today was day one. This is the kind of day we had: A stand on your head and throw caution to the wind kind of day.

After we ate breakfast and stood on our heads for awhile, we headed over to grandma's house to sell an old wood planer to a guy from Illinois. He got stuck in traffic, so we had a little time to kill.

Really, the kids are never that disappointed when I tell them they can play for awhile in the back of the Highlander or hop on a tractor.

They waited so patiently, they got a reward for lunch.

The kids took a nap, and then we headed outside so I could work on a project (more on that in the next post). When I was done, there was time for some baseball. Gracie is still working on her swing.

So she grabbed a second bat to double her chances for success.

Augie got his turn, too. But he likes to play in the yard with a live pitcher. He has deemed the corner of the fire pit patio his home plate. It's becoming a thing.

Gracie likes to swing while Augie takes his swings, so she's happy. Augie's happy. Everyone's happy!
