Artsy Fartsy Friday: Pine Cone Bird

Gracie's Take: First step is you take a pine cone. Then you take a cotton ball, unroll it, pretend I'm taking it apart, and you take it in little pieces and stick it in there. Then you take a nose, an orange beak, and stuff it in there without glue. And then you take two more cotton balls and stick it on the pine cone, the top of the pine cone. Then we take two pipe cleaners and we bent them three times. Then we glued it onto the pine cone. Then we take a piece of tape from the tape drawer, and we taped the feet. And then we took these black circle things and we took eyelashes and we sticked on the eyeballs. Then we glued the feathers on. Bye.

Dad's Take: This art project had a bunch of steps, so it must've taken the first graders awhile to finish. Gracie never actual said, but I'm guessing it's a bird. It does have wings after all. But that's one goofy looking bird. I'd be surprised if those wispy little wings could get that big head off the ground. Or maybe it's just a baby bird and that's why it's not completely covered in feathers yet.
