The Hello Augie Tour, Days 3 & 4

I think the tour is starting to wear on Augie a little bit. As day three has turned into day four he has slowly started to get crankier. Normally he only fusses when he is 1) hungry, 2) gassy or 3) dirty, but he cried for no reason at all today a couple of times today. He has calmed down some since returning to home base for the night, but the rest of the week shouldn’t be quite as busy for Augie.

Day three included trips to each of the great-grandparents on Gretchen’s side of the family. First up was great-grandma and grandpa Blighton. When we got there, great-grandma Helen met us at the door. She called Gretchen’s parents several times Saturday wondering if we there yet, so it’s safe to say she was excited to meet Augie.

After Augie was out of his car seat, she took him and sat with him in her chair…for more than an hour.

After a bottle of milk and a new diaper, Augie was ready to be held again. Great-grandpa got a chance to hold him, but that doesn’t mean great-grandma didn’t want him back.

Augie began to fuss for no reason, so we decided to take him back to home base for a short break before his next outing.

He responded by taking a nap in grandma’s chair.

When he was done napping, Gretchen, Augie and I headed over to great-grandpa and grandma Westerhoven’s house. He was quiet for awhile, but wanted a diaper, bottle and some more crying, so we took a picture with the great-grandparents and went home for the night.

There we found Aunt Lauren, who had come over to see Augie again. She was happy to see him, too.

On day four of Augie’s tour, he went to see Ashley, RJ and Hope in Baroda.

Mom and dad had some Pizza Hut while Ashley fed Augie the last part of his bottle.

When it was gone, he wasn’t very happy. Or he doesn’t like Ashley. We don’t know yet.

Hope was happy to investigate the little guy her dad, RJ, was holding…

…but we didn’t let her try to hold him. For obvious reasons.

After leaving Baroda, we went to see grandma Westerhoven at work, so she could introduce everyone at her office to her first grandchild. We sat in her office while she ran off with Augie. We are beginning to think he hasn’t been getting enough mom and dad time, though, so we made sure to give him some snuggles when we got home tonight. Tomorrow has another outing in store, we’ll have to wait and see how things go.

Coming later this week, hopefully, are a couple of pictures of Andy and Gretchen as babies. After looking at Gretchen’s baby picture, Augie does look a lot like she did. We have to go to my parent’s house again later this week to find my baby picture, to see if our pollsters were correct in saying Augie looks more like Gretchen. Also later this week, I’ll unveil a special compilation of some of the pictures I have take during the Hello Augie Tour.

  2. I thought it was ironic that she was holding her baby by her foot, and we were visiting so you and RJ and her could see our baby.
