Baptized you are a child of God

As most of you know, Augie was baptized Sunday at our church here in Portage. It was a bit of a weird experiene for him, I think, but not because someone was putting water over his head. He has been to church several times now, but this was the first time he was awake for the service. It's like he knew something was going on. (Although Gretchen says it was because he was still hungry because he didn't eat enough that morning). It's probably for the best, however, because he likely would've freaked out if he was awaken by someone pouring water on his head. Since he was awake, he didn't scream at all. The whole service.

Both sets of grandparents, godmother Aunt Jen and her two children, and our friends Aaron and Amanda from the Milwaukee area came up to see the baptism. Quite a few people -- family, friends and church members -- stuck around after the service to enjoy breakfast (and cake).

Because photography is frowned upon during church, my mom had our pastor re-enact Augie's baptism after the service. You can tell this isn't the real deal because the TV screen in the background doesn't have the service on it anymore (and because Gretchen is doing some weird Matrix thing with her hand).

After the service, Augie changed out of his ivory jumper (that's right we've taught him how to change his own clothes) and into his "My first valentine's day" shirt.
