Augie's Golden Birthday

Today, is Augie's seventh birthday. He's getting pretty big and didn't have a bike big enough for him to ride anymore, so mom and dad splurged on one.

He had one other present to open this morning. Aunt Jen and Uncle Luke left this behind when they were here last month after Christmas. Augie is amassing quite the Lego collection this holiday season.

Between presents and more presents there was time for a quick game of Life with sister. And by quick, I mean Gracie took one turn and quit. Good thing I was playing, too.

Grandma stopped by late this morning with Augie's presents so we didn't have to haul them from his party (more on that later).

She had a few for him to open.

He got this cool Cubs bank and a World Champions Cubs shirt.

And now he can serve Gretchen and I breakfast.

We broke from custom and had Augie's birthday party out this year. We went to Fire and Ice, and we let Augie invite a few of his friends.

We ordered pizzas. Way too many pizzas.

After pizza, there was time for presents. Augie got some more Legos.

And some other stuff, too.

Some of it was pretty interesting, I'm told.

One of the grandma's brought Gracie a present to open, too, so she wouldn't be opening Augie's for him.

Ryan was plenty occupied with his pizza, so we didn't have to worry about him getting in the way.

After presents, it was time to find trouble.

The boys lined up all the barriers and made an obstacle course out of them.

Gracie was brave enough to try it. She didn't kill herself, so that's a win.

There was cake, too. In another shift from tradition, we just bought one this birthday. Augie didn't seem to mind.

Since we were at Fire and Ice we didn't even have to bring ice cream. They already had some.
