Moving on up
This past weekend, Augie, mom and dad moved to a new apartment in Portage. We didn't really want to leave the old one, but we needed another bedroom to accommodate all of Augie's junk, so here we are at our new location. Augie has seemed to handle the move pretty well. He hasn't had much trouble sleeping (although he's still awake right now as I write this) and has otherwise accepted the new apartment as his home.
We enlisted the help of a few people to get us to our new apartment. Our pastor, another couple from church with a truck, van and trailer and my mom and dad helped out (my mom to babysit more than anything else). We were still doing some packing when they got here on Friday, but we made sure to pack all the important things.
And after a few trips back and forth between the apartments on Friday and Saturday, hauling furniture, a new entertainment center and more boxes, we unpacked.
We had most of the stuff out of the boxes by the end of Saturday, but Gretchen needed some time to decide what items she wanted to keep in her kitchen and what had to go to storage, so the kitchen waited until Sunday. Besides the extra bedroom, the living area is probably a little bigger in the new apartment. While we don't have the two private entrances like we used to, we do have a small patio next to our sliding door that we can sit on when the weather is nice. It has a nice little ledge that we can put our over-rail planters on, too. The worst part, at least in Gretchen's eyes, is the smaller kitchen. The old kitchen was huge, and this one is not tiny, but much smaller, with less counter and cabinet space.
When Gretchen and I got around to unpacking all the kitchen stuff, there was plenty of crumpled up newspapers to go around, so we let Augie play with some of it.
We are both still pretty tired (and cranky) from the move, since it took away a whole weekend of rest and relaxation, but Augie seems to be invigorated by his new-found home.
Or maybe not.

My son look like he spent the whole weekend partying and is in the throws of a horrible hangover. LOL
ReplyDeleteThat last picture does make it seem that way.
ReplyDeleteP.S. She meant "throes" not "throws."
Keep it up, and I'll show you the difference with your new camera. :-P
ReplyDeleteI don't even know what that means.
ReplyDeleteWell, I can tell you that I don't intend to "throe" it.
