Spring Sports Are Here
The snow is gone (at least for now), the sun is shining (at least a little more often) and the birds are singing (tweet tweet), which means it's time for spring sports.
Augie is signed up for another season of little league baseball. He's moved up to the Minor League this year, which means he'll start to see some live pitching. Based on some of the Minor League pitching I saw last year on the fields next to Augie's, I think he can handle it. We've been practicing some at home. (I've even hit him a couple of times, just so he knows what to expect. I totally did it on purpose, not because I have an old man arm.) Who knows, maybe we'll see Augie on the mound a little, too.
In other news, Gracie has been bugging us for like two years to play soccer. So this spring, we signed her up for soccer. She likes to run, her kicking skills aren't bad for someone her age, so I'm excited to see how it'll go.
The dual sports, however, means we'll be splitting up some nights to catch all the games. There are several nights where they'll both have games. So Steinke fans will have to scoot from one to the other, or, sometimes, pick one or the other. Here's this year's combined schedule:
- Gracie: April 27, 10 a.m.
- Augie: April 29, 5:30 p.m.
- Gracie: May 2, 6 p.m.
- Augie: May 2, 7:15 p.m.
- Augie: May 7, 5:30 p.m.
- Augie: May 9, 5:30 p.m.
- Gracie: May 9, 6 p.m.
- Gracie: May 11, 10 a.m.
- Augie: May 13, 5:30 p.m.
- Gracie: May 16, 6 p.m.
- Augie: May 16, 7:15 p.m.
- Gracie: May 18, 10 a.m.
- Augie: May 21, 5:30 p.m.
- Augie: May 23, 5:30 p.m.
- Augie: May 30, 5:30 p.m.
- Gracie: May 30, 6 p.m.
- Gracie: June 1, 10 a.m.
- Augie: June 3, 5:30 p.m.
- Augie: June 4, 7:15 p.m.
- Augie: June 20, 5:30 p.m.
All of Gracie's games are at the same location, so that'll be nice. Augie's games will be split between the complex he played at last year and one in St. Joseph, presumably because there are only 3 teams in Augie's Minor League system this year.
I'm not sure why Augie has such a big gap between his last two games, but it might just work out well, because basketball camp is in there.
If anyone wants to know when the kids are playing where, just shoot me a message and I'll let you know.
