Michigan's Great Southwest Kids' Museum
This morning was field trip No. 2 for Augie's preschool class. You might remember the class went to Sarett Nature Center in October for a morning of outdoor educational fun. This time, they got to visit Curious Kids' Museum. I hadn't been there since I was a kid, so it was nice to visit. Before the children were set loose, they were circled around and told what to do, and not to do.
Gracie was sad because she wasn't invited to be part of the circle.
A lot of the class spent a good chunk of time, like 20 whole minutes, playing in the apple orchard room. It was pretty cool, so I can't blame them.
The orchard had its own cash registers and general store, which was kind of weird, but we rolled with it.
There was also a vet clinic downstairs. Augie made sure this dachshund was fit and strong.
And he gave this big guy a quick bath.
There were lots of cool things to do upstairs, too, like have a meal in the galley of this Coast Guard vessel.
How to take pictures like a boss while holding a baby.
Augie made some electricity the hard way in the nuclear reactor room. It would be great if the museum could trick kids into using this thing all day long to power the building.
The nice worker at the museum let the kids try their hand at several brass instruments, like this baritone.
They were on their own, though, if they wanted to shred it on the guitars.
Augie tried his hand at running the radio station. I'm not sure why he's using the mouse with his left hand. There has never been a more right-handed kid on this planet. Maybe he was showing off his mad computering skills for Emma.
He was much better at manning the news desk than he was running the radio.
I don't think he's going to be a meteorologist. His forecast wasn't even close to being right.
