One person's trash is another person's...toys?

That looks like a toy.
More and more Augie is perfecting the stretch and grab. Most of the time it's for his toys, but if you get him too close to things that aren't toys he's happy to grab those, too. In fact, most of those things he thinks are toys...or at least chew toys. Everything he grabs goes straight to the mouth for a taste test, and then he plays with it.

Here's a short list of things Augie plays with like toys, but that aren't really toys:
Cell phones, dad's camera, paper cups, paper plates, wooden spoons, water bottles, boxes, DVD cases, remotes, coffee cups, spoons and fingers.

I swear he knows they aren't toys and chews on them anyway. Last night, we put him in the high chair next to the dining room table at grandma's house. Of course the first thing he did was reach for grandma Steinke's cell phone. Instead of letting him short the thing out with his mouth full of slobber, we grabbed his new toy cell phone and stuck it in the same spot. He didn't go for it. He knew it was a toy. I guess he's smarter than us.

Odds and ends:
As some of you saw, there was a poll last week asking what we should do with Augie's hair. The winner with five votes was "Trim it a little but leave it long on top." "Let it grow, deal with it later" came in second with two votes. And "Cut his hair into a mowhawk" only received one vote. We haven't dealt with the hair yet, but we'll probably do some trimming next week when we are back home. Be on the lookout for pictures.

As for pictures from this week's trip to Michigan, I'll probably post them tomorrow night or Monday night. Set up your Google Alerts and wait with bated breath.
