August visits Michigan...in August

As promised, here are some of the pictures from last week's trip to Michigan. It was Augie's third trip to Michigan, and second in about two months. He got into a lot of mischief this time. Here is the rundown.

Grandma and grandpa Westerhoven found Gretchen's Johnny Jump Up circa 1985. I'm not sure how safe it was then, but it looks awful iffy now.
Quality time with grandma Westerhoven.
You can't tell from this picture, but Augie was squealing here. I took several short videos of Augie making his strange noises last week. Look for them on the blog later this week.
Either playing footsie with grandpa or comparing foot sizes. Only Augie really knows, and he isn't saying.
Someday I'll do a blog with all the funny faces, like this one, that Augie gives me.
Of toys that make noise, this one is one of the most tolerable. Those Baby Einstein people know what they are doing.
Another new toy. Augie got lots of new stuff when he was home.
Grandpa Westerhoven's tractor, and what appears to be a full moon. The picture doesn't do it justice.
Out for a walk on grandpa Westerhoven's farm.
Checkin' out grandpa's apple crop. Looks good.
While I'm here why don't I just till this soil for you gramps.
Chillin' with the pears under the big tree.
We took the stroller with us on the walk, but it wasn't built for the rough terrain and was left behind.
When in doubt, give Augie a plate to play with, that'll cheer him up. That was last week's motto. (P.S. I wish camera phone quality would catch up with my actual camera's quality.)
Hope's either whispering him a secret, trying to kiss him or bite his ear off. I don't know.
When Augie, mom and dad made the switch to grandma Steinke's house, it wasn't pretty. Both of Augie's top front teeth came in on the same day. It was a cranky day. (Also pictured, great-grandpa Becker).
It wasn't all crankiness, though.
Grandma and grandpa Steinke have a lot of hummingbirds that visit their house, so I went out and visited them.
By the end of the week Augie had a brand new car seat to call home. It's luxurious. It has TWO cup holders.
Reading a book with grandma.
Yesterday, Augie, mom and dad went to Old Navy. While mom tried on clothes, Augie built a big block. (Dad may have helped.)
Cousin Mikey's vocabulary has exploded in the past month. Now he knows how to say "fix bike," and then of course he fixes his bike. (It wasn't really broken.)
And there it is. Another week of vacation in Michigan. We aren't sure when we will be back again. Maybe Thanksgiving. Maybe Christmas. But if nothing else we are trying to be home around Augie's first birthday, so he can celebrate it with his family.

  1. I just love Augie's face in the pic with Hope. It's like "I don't know about this...."
