Big and Strong

Check out the guns!
This is Augie. He thinks he's "big and strong" just like me. He thinks he's big and strong because mom keeps tricking him into doing things so he'll be "big and strong like daddy." About a month ago, she was trying to get Augie to take a nap. Augie didn't want to, so Gretchen told him that if he wanted to be big and strong like daddy, he had to take a nap. A week later, I was changing Augie's diaper and he kept saying "big and strong, big and strong." I asked Gretchen why he was saying that, and she told me about her little con game.

While I feel bad about tricking him into doing things we need him to do, it really seems to work. Tonight, I used the "big and strong con" to get Augie to take a bite of his carrot. He spit it back out, but before asking him if he wanted to be big and strong like me he wouldn't even taste it. I'm proud that he wants to be big and strong like me, but I wish he'd start eating his carrots.
