Artsy Fartsy Friday: A Football Play
Augie's Take: This play is called Pass Through Center. So I
set it up on the I-formation. And the quarterback throws to the wide
receiver through the center, in between the center and the guard. And
then, if the wide receiver is stuck between the defense, he'll pass to
the halfback, who will then run the football. I did it by looking in a
book, and the I-formation and how to block were in there.
Dad's Take: Augie was sitting on the couch last weekend with a football book of some sort and his pad of paper. He said he was going to draw up some plays for Artsy Fartsy Friday. He picked this one to talk about. I'm not sure if he came up with the play himself or just copied what was in the book. Let's assume he came up with it himself. It's a little dunk pass over the middle, probably good for short yardage. But he wasn't happy with short yardage. He thought past that step. Because if his wide receiver gets stuck, he'll just pass it to the halfback. The defense will never see it coming. It's genius.
