Since Augie is now in first grade, he is eligible to be in Boy Pioneers. Pioneers is kind of like the Lutheran equivalent of Boy Scouts (or so I'm told). So far he's done things like kayak, shoot a BB gun and make this rock-covered cross. This was our project tonight. The dads helped with the sawing, drilling and glue gunning because most of the boys are younger, but they were in charge of screwing the boards together and putting their rocks on.
Two weeks ago (we meet every two weeks) we went to the beach and gathered our rocks. We were supposed to come back and do all the drilling and sawing and gluing when we were done, but as you can imagine, we spent too much time throwing rocks in Lake Michigan so we didn't have time.
