Recapping the Fourth

Yesterday was the Fourth of July. Gracie had so many patriotic outfits to choose from (because she's a good American) that Gretchen and I fought over which one she'd wear. Gretchen picked this one.

We got to the Eau Claire parade a little early ... so there was time to enjoy an elephant ear.

Augie had spent the night at Grandma Westerhoven's, but he made it in time for the elephant ear ... oh yeah, and the parade.

Speaking of the parade, there were the customary military vehicles ...

... and floats ...

... and classic cars ...

... and one police dog that apparently forgot how to sit.

Last night, Augie and I accompanied Grandma Steinke to the fireworks. Grandma geared us up with glow sticks.

The show in Eau Claire is never long, but neither is the traffic line to get back out of town. And the show rarely disappoints.

Augie was certainly entertained.

The show ended with a bang. Literally.

Since Gracie didn't get to go to the fireworks, here's a bonus picture of her from the party at Uncle George's on the third. She loves to swing.
