A Fine Fall Day

The annual (at least I assume it's annual) St. Joseph Fall Festival was this weekend. I read in the paper that they were going to have some kid-friendly activities this morning, so we went down to check it out. Augie has been talking about the petting zoo for days.

He was especially fond of all the bunnies there were to pet.

Which was OK, because the bunnies really wanted to be petted.

The bunnies were super fluffy ...

... but Gracie didn't want to pet them.

And then there was this Vietnamese pig that, I kid you not, did tricks like it was a dog. She shook hands, turned around in a circle, bowed, even jumped a little. It was impressive.

So Augie petted her, too.

After nap, we trekked over to grandma's house so we could find some apples for pies and applesauce. That meant a short drive in grandma's truck down the farm path to the orchard behind her house. Don't worry, we didn't top 10 mph.

The orchard was, uh, a little overgrown with weeds.

But that didn't make the apples any less tasty.

There was plenty of low-hanging fruit still on the tree, so Augie was happy to help ...

... help eat the apples.

Happy Saturday!
