Trimming the Tree
It's that time of year again. Time to put up the Steinke Christmas tree. We started the process on Saturday before I went to work. As you can see, we got a new tree this year (thanks, Grandma Steinke) because the lights on the old tree refused to work anymore.
It's bigger than the old one, which means it didn't exactly fit the way mom wanted it to.
Sorry, dear.
That's was all we got accomplished before I had to leave. So Augie took a book break until Sunday.
The first step Sunday was to try and get our old star to fit on the new tree. It wasn't going well.
And it's not like I was getting much help from these two.
Eventually mom got tired of me complaining about the star, so she tried to put it on. I still say it looks like it's leaning forward, but she says it's fine. So it's fine.
Once that situation was "fixed" we moved on to the garland.
It was a family affair.
Then it was on to hanging the ornaments, like this 20-year-old relic.
As you can imagine, this is where most of the ornaments Augie hanged ended up: on the bottom of the tree.
Grace couldn't help much, so grandma held her.
She did help with her "my first Christmas" ornament, though.
By the time we were done, both of our helpers had crapped out on us.
Augie was pretty happy with how things went.
Gracie was a little less enthused. But she'll get there.
Happy tree trimming!
