Artsy Fartsy Friday: Butterfly
Augie's Take: Stingers. It's just seeing the other insects with the stingers. Wings and a body and a head. Going into a chrysalis. Hanging from a tree. Eating. Then he's a butterfly. He flies away. Metamorphosis! He's orange and black. He's a monarch butterfly.
Dad's Take: His coloring may appear to be all over the place, but really it's not a bad depiction of a monarch butterfly's wings. They are part orange, black and white, which is what Augie colored here. The thorax is completely wrong (it should be black), and butterflies don't have stingers, but he's learning. He did remember that a butterfly goes through metamorphosis, and even if he doesn't completely understand the process, being able to say the word itself is quite an accomplishment.
