It's Time to Decorate Cookies

Mom was busy making cutout cookies yesterday while I was at work, but she didn't get to frosting them. So today, we had to finish them up. Usually we have other people around to help us, but this year it was just Gretchen and I.

Luckily we had a couple of little people to help us with the sprinkles.

We had a few colors to work with.

And then we handed our plates off for the finishing touches. Augie did a good job of add sprinkles ... lots of sprinkles.

Gracie on the other hand ... well ... we handed her a plate of cookies and she thought we were handing her lunch. She grabbed her bib and licking the frosting. Suffice to say, she was done decorating cookies.

We ran out of frosting halfway through, so Gretchen whipped us up another batch. If you were wondering what makes her cutout cookies so good, it's powdered sugar. And lard. Don't forget the lard.

After Gracie watched how the whole sprinkle thing worked for awhile, we gave her one more chance to help.

She couldn't keep the container out of the frosting, though, which meant she had to keep "cleaning it off." So she got herself another plate of cookies to eat.

And she washed them down with a bowl of frosting. When in Rome, right?

I think mom and Augie might have sneaked a couple of cookies, too. They look pretty guilty.

I know what you're thinking, "With all this 'help,' did you even get any cookies finished?" Yep, we did. See. I particularly like that yellow Christmas tree there. You see it? The one with so many green sprinkles on it that it looks green. That's gonna be a good one. Other people may have better looking cookies, but these ones definitely taste better. I guarantee it.
