I know you've all been waiting anxiously for the past year to see what I would come up with for my 3rd Annual Online Gift Guide. Well, wait no more! It's here!
If you aren't like Gretchen and I, and don't already have your own genetically made mini me, check out this cool website. You can upload a picture of yourself, choose from one of the many models, and the company will make you your very own bobblehead. If bobbleheads aren't your thing, they'll put your mug on a flash drive, keychain or bottle opener, too.
If you're married to the kind of person who likes to use her automatic car starter to heat her car all winter long, why not buy her this adapter from Automatic that will preheat her home while she drives home? The adapter can do
a lot of cool things, including collecting trip, mileage and other data about your car, but it's coolest option (so to speak) is its integration with Nest. If you have a Nest thermostat at home and a smartphone, you can program the adapter to start heating your home while you commute home.
When I'm at work, I often wish my mouse was a little bit smarter. It would make my job go so much faster. That's why I think this futuristic new mouse might be worth a try. Instead of conforming your hand around the mouse, the mouse conforms itself around your hand. Plus, doesn't it look really cool?
Most of you live in The Awesome Mitten state (the real one, not that knock off one to our west that thinks it can say it's mitten-shaped, too). This website's shop features all things Michigan, and the prices aren't too extravagant. There are magnets, key chains, books, Faygo coasters, iPhone cases, spatulas, artwork, even underwear.
In other things that are so Michigan, this personalized lake art. These laser-cut pieces of art are available in single-layer and 3-D. Or you can order them as a serving tray or cribbage board. Lake Art has more than 4,000 lakes to choose from (not all of them in Michigan), so you have a lot of options. What's best? The art is made right here in Michigan.
Have someone on the Christmas list you have to buy a gift for, but maybe don't like all that much? This company will ruin your friend/relative's day by shipping them glitter. I hate glitter. If someone shipped me glitter, I know I'd stop talking to them. On the other hand, if you have someone on your list that you really love and want to endear for life, the same company will
ship your friends bacon, or a bacon tie, or a bacon costume. Mmmm, bacon.
If your Christmas gift recipient is willing to wait a bit for their gift, and what tech lover hasn't waited for the latest gadget, check out the ORB. This orbital ring bluetooth is not only a bluetooth earpiece, it's also a ring. According to the Michigan-based company, which plans to start selling the ORB next year, the device uses technology that sends sound through the soft tissue on the back of the ear to work. It doesn't fit uncomfortably in the back of your ear like a traditional bluetooth device. It's the perfect gift for that person who already has the iPod, the iPad, the iPhone and the iWatch. I'm a little surprised Apple doesn't have its own iRing.
