Augie's Birthday Party

Today, we celebrated Augie's birthday. His birthday is a few days away, but Saturday worked well for most people, so we celebrated today ...

... even though today was actually mom's birthday. She says she's 29, but that's what all 30-something women say. I'm demanding a birth certificate.

Gretchen worked on Augie's cake yesterday. He wanted a "sprinkle" cake this year (aka fun fetti) instead of a chocolate one. Gretchen could have used some help decorating it, because it was pretty big, but I was too busy taking pictures.

She managed to get it frosted without much help.

And it turned out just fine.

We started off the party with a little pizza. Everyone finished before Gretchen did. Augie cheered her on to finish her last piece so he could open presents. She wasn't amused.

Even though we only invited the immediate family, Augie got more than his fair share of cool presents.

Like this awesome shirt.

And a Playdoh truck.

To sum up, he had a lot of fun opening his presents.

Augie and Mikey ventured into Augie's room afterward to check out Augie's new treasure map from Aunt Jennifer.

Of course no pirate adventure is complete without appropriate headwear.

Ahoy, matey!

Happy birthday!
