Planes, Trains and Augiemobiles

The public art display this summer in downtown St. Joseph is planes, trains and helicopters. I thought it was planes, trains and automobiles. The actual name of the display explains why there were no cars when we went downtown this morning to check them out.

Most of the displays were kid-friendly (aka Augie could sit on them).

The best part is, all the kids sit on them, so no one looks at you funny.

Augie was always ready to go to the next one.

All aboard.

Watch out below.

The Lego's Star Wars one was pretty cool ...

... but Augie's favorite was definitely the Little Engine That Could.

It had a working bell.

And a train whistle button that was solar powered.

It was pretty cool, but I think my favorite was the concrete one embedded with keys, bottle caps, letters and more.

As an aside, the St. Joseph Police Department must be a fan of the blog. Before we left for downtown, I tweeted Augie's pending appearance. As you can see from the early pictures, Augie is wearing just a tank top. But in this last picture you can see he has a police badge sticker. A nice officer chased him down the street to give it to him. (Or maybe he just gave it to him as we walked past. My memory is a little fuzzy. I choose to believe he knew we were coming and just had to meet Augie).
