Line 'Em Up
It's official...
...Augie has entered the "line 'em up" phase of boyhood. Anyone with a 2-year-old boy, probably knows what I'm talking about. Everyday Augie takes his bucket of cars and lines them up, sometimes nose to tail like this, sometimes side by side like in a parking lot, and sometimes side by side AND nose to tail like in a traffic jam. He makes a big mess doing it, but at least it's an organized mess.
BONUS MATERIAL!!!
It seemed like everyone's lilies had popped but ours. Until yesterday, that is. I don't know if they took longer because they are more shaded behind the garage or because they are a slightly different type of lily. I was surprised by how red they were. I vaguely remembered them being more orange last summer when we saw them during our house hunt.
The rose bush we transplanted from up front to out back is also doing well. It has shot off in at least two new directions this spring and is now producing multiple flowers daily. Gretchen said she doesn't really like pink, but said she didn't mind the deeper pink color of our roses.
On the other hand, I must admit our first transplant failure. The maple tree we got from Gretchen's dad didn't make it. It never really took root and the leaves burned out. So we bought a new tree at Meijer. It wasn't free like the first one, but if it dies within the year, at least we get a new one for free.
Lastly, the wild flowers on the side of the house have gone crazy. They have sprouted blue, purple, dark purple, white, and white and purple. This is kind of the scene I was hoping for out back with the tree stump potter, but this is the only spot they've all flowered at the same time. Oh well, maybe next year.
