Third Time's a Charm

Today was Augie's first baseball game. It was supposed to be his third game, but there's been a lot of rain this spring. He was rained out twice last week, and it was getting to him. He loves baseball. The teacher had to move him around in the classroom this week because he was staring out the window at the other kids playing baseball. That's how much he loves baseball.

All the stars came out to watch him play. Gracie was there.

Mom was there (with her new Cubs hat).

Grandma was there (with her camera ... and her camera helper).

So was the other grandma, and grandpa, and Aunt Marcie.

After Augie grounded out and the team batted around (that's how the first inning goes), he went out to the field and played some "pitcher." Really, he was the kid standing next to the pitching machine.

But he was really good at it.

The next inning he played some left field, which was kind of like deep shortstop. One ball came his way, and he beat out the other two kids in the area to the ball, so he got to throw it back in.

Augie did a little more hitting.

And running to first.

Before finishing the game at second base.

A good time was had by all. I think we'll go back for a few more games.
